As the new MacBook Pro machines are examined closely by those outside of Apple’s futuristic HQ, the secrets of the laptops are becoming clear, and it makes for uncomfortable reading.

The MacBook Pro is following many of the latest trends for laptop machines; specifically being as thin as possible, fashioned from single blocks of aluminium, with as much weight reduction as possible.
But the MacBook Pro machines are also prized as being top of the line portable machines with all the power you need on tap.Which means the inability of the i9-equipped MacBook Pro to handle the heat generated when placed under reasonable load is a courageous choice by Apple’s designers. The 8th gen CPU from Intel has 6 cores but the thermal design of the 15″ MacBook Pro isn’t cut out for removing the heat. The true-tone screen is awesome. It’s still one of the best screens on the market and is very bright. Third gen butterfly switch keyboard has the membrane to prevent dust from coming in. And the option for 32 gigs of ram is great but it’s still a MacBook Pro and there will be thermal limitations on this design.
The MacGyvered solution during testing – throwing the MacBook Pro into the freezer to keep the temperatures down – is a non-starter for obvious practical reasons. This is an issue that should have been addressed at the design stage. Sure the MacBook Pro looks nice, but…
