The final game of what will be a Hall of Fame career for Dwyane Wade is closing in. While the Miami Heat remained alive for a playoff spot entering play Tuesday, the team used its final regular-season home game to celebrate its longtime star.
Wade was honored with a lengthy in-arena video tribute pregame before addressing the crowd that has cheered him on for 15 of his 16 NBA seasons.
He also was honored during the Heat broadcast in“D-Wade! Congratulations on a great run. Now, I know what you’re going through, because saying goodbye to a career that you love is never easy. I’ve been there. In my case though, I didn’t really have a choice. My knees were shot so I had to give up basketball forever,” Obama cracked.
