Hugh Hefner can finally be at peace as he was laid to rest in a private funeral in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Hefner’s funeral was held at the Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles at noon on Saturday. His four children Cooper Hefner, Marston Hefner, Christie Hefner and David Hefner, along with wife Crystal Harris, and some Playboy staffers bid him goodbye in an intimate ceremony, TMZ reported.
Hefner’s remains were placed in a crypt next to the “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” actress. Monroe is the first woman to appear on the first issue of Playboy magazine in December 1953.
According to Hefner in 2012, he felt a “double connection” to Monroe who was born in the same year as him, Us Weekly reported. “I’m a believer in things symbolic. Spending eternity next to Marilyn is too sweet to pass up,” Hefner once said.The Playboy founder reportedly bought the spot in the Corridor of Memories Mausoleum in 1992 for $75,000.
