From memes to tweets, cartoons and real-life marketing. The world tries to find humor in the time of Corona, unfortunately not so funny for Corona beer.
‘Corona beer virus’ searches surge as China coronavirus spreads.
Google search trends indicate people from the US to Singapore seem to be confusing the Mexican lager with the deadly virus.
While memes about the virus are showing up, some attempts to use the similar-sounding names as a marketing stunt have fallen flat.
Meanwhile toilet paper takes second in the spotlight. Both in cartoons and in real-life at the Salt Lake City airports buy one get one diamond ring free.
There’s been a run on all things from toilet paper to hand sanitizer.
This “panic buying” in Hawaii video racked up the viral clicks. “At the busiest Costco in the U.S., located in urban Honolulu, there’s a run-on toilet paper,” Ryan Ozawa wrote. “Staff maintain order and bring out inventory as fast as they can, managing a line that runs the length of the store”.
We are at #Costco. It’s a madhouse. Every cart has like survival essentials and the guy at guest services said every Costco in Hawaii is completely sold out of toilet paper. One guy is stocking up on margaritas and he’s who I really want to have nearby when #coronavirus hits.

Costo trended on Reddit due to this ironic Tweet.
God bless the hundreds of people doomsday prepping at Costco right now and still eating the little food samples sitting out for everyone to touch #coronavirus

Others are stocking up on some interesting things???
I was sent to a Costco to see if people are stocking up (even though health officials say it’s not necessary) in case COVID-19 gets more serious here. This guy came out of the store with 16 boxes of condoms and a big jar of coconut oil. We all have priorities. pic.twitter.com/C3edUsgZzH
