‘s mother, former Upstate New York resident Gloria Fallon, is dead at age 68.
The New York Daily News reports Gloria died Saturday at a hospital in New York City while surrounded by her family.
TMZ sources say she had been hospitalized with an unspecified illness.Jimmy had canceled Friday night’s taping of “The Tonight Show” for a family emergency. A spokesperson later said he rushed to be by his mother’s side at the NYU Langone Medical Center in Manhattan.
“Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time,” a spokesperson for the NBC late-night show said.
The Roots drummer Questlove, leader of the NBC late-night show band, told TMZ that he didn’t know when “The Tonight Show” would resume taping again but expressed sympathy and support for Fallon. “When you lose someone, it’s always sad,” Questlove said.
Gloria Fallon and her husband Jim lived in Brooklyn, where Jimmy and his sister, also named Gloria, were born. They moved upstate to Saugerties in the Catskills region when Jimmy was 2 years old and his father Jim took a job at IBM.
