It’s time to support your local businesses, museums
You cooked. You ate. You cleaned. You watched football and parades. On Black Friday, you braved crowds for sales. Now, the weekend is here to support small businesses. Nine years ago, Small Business Saturday was added to the Thanksgiving week calendar to bring millions of customers into the small and local businesses that are the backbone of communities.
And a newer day worthy of your holiday shopping attention this weekend: Museum Store Sunday. Julie Steiner, director of retail operations at the Barnes Foundation, a Philadelphia museum, says, “Museum Store Sunday gives people a chance to support local businesses, give back to the community through local nonprofit museums, support good causes, find unique holiday gifts and enjoy an entertaining and educational experience at favorite museums, all at the same time.”European Union leaders due to sign off Brexit deal
British Prime Minister Theresa May will head to Brussels this weekend to try and strike a deal for Brexit in time for a summit of European Union leaders on Sunday. The EU leaders are due to sign off the agreement Sunday, which lays out the terms of Britain’s departure from the bloc in March and sets up a framework for future relations. But Spain remains unsatisfied over the future of Gibraltar, a tiny territory at the tip of the Iberian Peninsula which was ceded to Britain in 1713 but is still claimed by Spain. Spanish government spokeswoman Isabel Celaa said Friday that Spain requires an “absolute guarantee” that any future agreement between the EU and the U.K….
