For Duchess Meghan, George Clooney is proving to be a real prince. The “Catch-22” actor is coming to the royal’s defense, again.
During an interview with “Good Morning Britain” Friday, Clooney spoke out against how Meghan has been portrayed in the media.
“It’s a little unfair at times, you know, I’ve seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing,” he said, “and it seemed to me a little unjust since she hadn’t done anything except just happen to live her life.”
Clooney, who attended the former “Suits” star’s wedding to Prince Harry in May, with his barrister wife Amal, continued with words of praise for Meghan.
“She’s a really kind and smart, intelligent young woman, and they’re a really wonderful, loving couple,” he said.
“Most of it you can just shrug off and not pay attention to,” he added, “but sometimes it’s unkind…”
It was only the latest royal-defending remarks by Clooney, a well-known critic of tabloid tactics and paparazzi. But the venue he chose, “Good Morning Britain,” was unusual given that one of the key hosts on the breakfast-TV show is Piers Morgan, among the loudest Meghan critics in the British media. (Clooney was interviewed by different hosts, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins, on Friday.)
