A world-famous Bansky artwork was destroyed in a shredder at an auction moments after it was sold for over £1million.
The “Girl With Balloon” canvas had an estimate of £200,000 to £300,000 when it went up for sale at Sotheby’s in New York City.
But, once the hammer went down on a winning bid of £860,000 – worth £1.

Alex Branczik, Sotheby’s European head of contemporary art, told a press conference: “We’ve just been Banksy’ed.
“He is arguably the greatest British street artist, and tonight we saw a little piece of Banksy genius.”
