12 of J.K. Rowling’s Most Amazing Post-Series ‘Harry Potter’ Reveals

When someone says they don’t like Harry Potter, I automatically assume 1 of 2 things: either they’ve never read Harry Potter, or they’re a complete and total idiot. I know that’s not technically fair, since different strokes for different folks and all of that, but the books are basically everything that is good and right in the world so idk how to handle someone “not liking” that.

I mean. Come on.

Which is to say, I am a huge Potter nerd. I bought the books on release day, saw the movies on opening night, cried when I set foot in Harry Potter World, and, yes, I follow J.K. Rowling on Twitter and on Pottermore. The last thing in that list has turned out to be very lucrative, in a world where Potter knowledge is currency (if only it spent like cash!), because the author of the books loves the world she created as much as the rest of us do. She spends time thinking about the characters in minute detail, and, every once in a while, she shares those amazing tidbits with all of us.

In one of her sadder revelations, Rowling says that sometimes the damage done by dark magic is too great to recover from, and that Neville’s parents never return to normal life.

I don’t know why, but it made me oddly happy to hear that the cousins eventually overcame their pasts enough to at least see one another’s families on occasion. Family is family.
