The Chrome Web Store is full of scammy crypto-currency miners, and Google doesn’t plan to remove them until June.
That’s right: June.
Google today announced they are removing extensions that mine currency without user permission, which is great. But scammy extensions like CryptoTab, shown above, remain in the store.
It’s hard enough to make a profit mining Bitcoin using a gaming PC, because of electricity costs. It’s hard to imagine a browser-based extension, which doesn’t have access to your GPU, even coming close to that.
