Disney’s animation empire looks to enjoy its biggest Thanksgiving feast ever at the box office.
Ralph Breaks the Internet gobbled up a huge $18.5 million Wednesday from 4,017 theaters for a revised five-day debut of $94 million-plus, the best opening ever for the long holiday weekend and besting fellow Disney Animation Studios’ blockbuster Frozen ($93.6 million), not adjusted for inflation. The critically acclaimed follow-up to the 2012 animated pic Wreck-It Ralph sees John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman returning to lead the voice cast, while newcomers include Gal Gadot and Taraji P. Henson. The family film received an A- CinemaScore and favorable reviews.
MGM’s Creed II is also taking to the holiday ring in a major way, opening to $11.6 million on Wednesday from 3,359 locations for a projected five-day launch of $61 million or more, the best Thanksgiving opening of all time…
