In a recent update to the official The Legend of Zelda site in Japan, Breath of the Wild has been added to the series timeline but it’s not quite as straightforward as it first appears.
Put simply, Breath of the Wild is indeed the final installment when it comes to the narrative timeline for the series.
However, there is a catch.
While Breath of the Wild is definitely the last point in the timeline it is currently not connected to any of the previous timelines.
This is because the Zelda timeline is split across various eventualities…
