More specifics of upcoming MacBook Pro internals may be leaking out in benchmarks.
MBPs are overdue for new silicon. June has come and gone and the lineup remains static, i.
e., 7th gen Kaby Lake processors, which first appeared in Windows systems in late 2016.2018 MacBook Pro 13:
Reports at Apple enthusiast sites like Cult of Mac, MacRumors, and AppleInsider point to possible Geekbench scores for a Core i7-8559U “Coffee Lake” processor in the MBP 13. This is a spanking-new quad-core chip announced by Intel in the second quarter of this year. It has a base speed of 2.70 GHz but turbos to 4.50 GHz.
If accurate (and that’s still a big “if”), this would be some serious silicon for a new MBP 13 and rival what’s currently in the MBP 15. The 28-watt i7-8559U packs integrated Iris Plus Graphics 655 and supports DDR4-2400 and LPDDR3-2133 DRAM (Apple may opt for the latter in the MBP 13, however).
