Avengers: Infinity War passes Titanic on the all-time domestic box office charts as it concludes its theatrical run. The cinematic event 10 years in the making, Infinity War did not disappoint when it finally premiered back in April. Bringing together all of the corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, critics and audiences enjoyed what directors Joe & Anthony Russo put together, as Infinity War rode its Certified Fresh rating to a worldwide haul of more than $2 billion. It is just the fourth film in history to reach that total.
As Infinity War shattered records during its opening frame, many wondered just how high Marvel’s epic crossover could go. While it was unable to top the studio’s first massive blockbuster of 2018, Black Panther (an event few would have predicted at the start of the year), Infinity War was still an astronomical commercial success. With the film bowing out of theaters, it sits comfortably in the top five.
