After yet another suspension, New England Patriots receiver Josh Gordon’s chances of returning to the league are slim but not an impossibility. USA TODAY Sports
New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick addressed the media Friday for the first time since the NFL announced it is suspending wide receiver Josh Gordon indefinitely.
Gordon joined New England in a trade during Week 3 and recorded 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games.
The NFL announced the suspension, the fifth of Gordon’s career, on Thursday.“I spoke with Josh yesterday morning, as I have several times since he’s been here,” Belichick said during a news conference at Gillette Stadium. “It’s obviously an unfortunate situation. Personally, I wish him the very best, as we all do on this team. He’s made a statement, the organization’s made a statement, the league’s made a statement. I’ve spoken with him at length over the last three months, and so I don’t really have anything to add to that at this point. It’s a private matter. I hope that he’s able to deal with it successfully. Otherwise, we’re going to move on to Buffalo.”
