On this day 20 years ago, Elton John debuted a new version of ‘Candle In The Wind’, performing the song live at the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales. An estimated two billion people around the world watched Elton, who was able to keep his composure while playing the tribute with special lyrics for his friend.

The track went on to become the biggest selling single of all-time, according to This Day in Music. WATCH the moment… (1997)
