Star Trek: Discovery revealed an action-packed second trailer at Comic-Con International on Saturday. Unlike the previous promo released in May — which used footage entirely culled from the show’s first episode — the new trailer includes content from several episodes in the first season.
The trailer has the first footage of Jason Isaacs’ Captain Gabriel Lorca in action and has a first look at Rainn Wilson’s con man character, Harry Mudd. The dialogue includes a major plot tease when Lorca accuses star Sonequa Martin-Green’s character, Michael Burnham, of being responsible for starting a war with the Klingons.
On the panel inside the San Diego Convention Center, Martin-Green revealed that Ambassador Sarek (James Frain), Spock’s father, is the surrogate parent to her character. While Isaacs was asked about how his Starfleet Captain differed from the ones who have come before. “He’s probably more f—ed up than any of them,” Isaacs said. “He’s a complicated guy for a complicated age. He’s a guy who’s born out of war and gives him a lot of sharp edges.”
