Most bus drivers are on a tight schedule, but that didn’t stop from this compassionate transit worker from taking the time to help an older blind man maneuver a street that was under construction.
69-year-old Gene Hubbard is blind from diabetes, but he has still been going to work unassisted for the last 20 years.
He knows exactly how to get to his place of work in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from the bus stop, but when the intersection recently went under construction, he found himself in a tricky spot.“If I don’t have a regular locating point to start from, I may as well be in the middle of the ocean,” Hubbard told WITI.
Thankfully, 28-year-old Thaddaus Turner could sense his distress.
