Was it really only yesterday that I was complaining about the recent lack of opportunities for royal fashion watchers? We had to make do with only reports and no pictures of the $51 floral Zara dress that Kate Middleton wore on the way to her sister’s wedding, and could only dredge up some doubtful enthusiasm for the dull peach Alexander McQueen outfit she wore to the actual ceremony.
Last night it was as if the Duchess of Cambridge herself had heard our woes, and broke out one of the most dazzling looks we’ve seen her in yet.
This is royalty as we’d like it to look, well, most of the time: in a plunging, dusky rose Marchesa gown; a ruby-encrusted necklace that looks as though it weighs a ton; and, of course, one of the most famous tiaras in the world, the Cambridge Lover’s Knot.
