There aren’t many people who didn’t adore Netflix’s first season of Stranger Things, a science fiction series that tugged on the heartstrings of pretty much anyone who grew up (or lived through) the 80s. So when brainstorming ideas for a short-term popup bar, the owners of Emporium Chicago figured turning their space into a replica of the Stranger Things set would be a great way to bring in some patrons for a super fun time.
They were right, of course – people love it – but they forgot to ask Netflix for permission to profit off their intellectual property. Whoops!
