A former CNN producer who has accused disgraced journalist Mark Halperin of sexually harassing her said Monday that the “most painful part” of the aftermath was seeing his career skyrocket.
“That was the most painful part – to see this person who really kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger and no one called him out,” Eleanor McManus told NBC’s Megyn Kelly.
“There are women that this happened to who did not pursue their career in journalism because of this incident,” McManus said. “I did, and because these women didn’t, you know, that made me so angry and so sad, and these are women who could have been the next Jane Pauley, the next Andrea Mitchell, the next Christiane Amanpour, the next Megyn Kelly.”
McManus, who wrote a lengthy CNN op-ed Friday saying she was sexually harassed by Halperin, told Kelly that the famous political journalist’s sexual misconduct “was an open secret” among those in the industry.
