Black Panther has been out for months, but fans evidently have yet to crack all of its mysteries. An eagle-eyed Redditor recently uncovered a secret that’s been right in front of our eyes all along. In the film’s end credits, as noted by comicbook.com, Trevor Noah is listed as the voice of the character “Griot”—better known as the sleek, Shuri-invented A.
I. system that guides Martin Freeman’s character in a virtual plane during the battle scene. The word “griot” is a West African term for a storyteller. Representatives for Noah confirmed to Vanity Fair that he voiced the character.Landing a role in this smash Marvel movie is a delightful personal victory for Noah. The Daily Show host is South African, and several characters in Black Panther speak Xhosa, one of his home country’s official languages.
