You’ve probably seen a Little Free Library at some point in your city or town. You might even be lucky enough to have one close by. These DIY, homegrown book depositories are often run by the nonprofit of the same name. There are now over 75,000 of them in 88 countries, and they allow strangers to exchange books with their neighbors free of charge.

But one of the coolest Little Free Libraries out there has to be the one Sharalee Armitage Howard made with her family in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A librarian and an artist, Howard decided that, rather than removing a dead 110-year-old tree, she would convert it into a new LFL.
