CENTRAL VALLEY – Recent visitors to Woodbury Common may have been exposed to the measles after an infected New York City resident visited the shopping outlets in Orange County, officials said.
That person visited the massive shopping complex in Central Valley on March 31, Orange County said in a statement on Wednesday. People who visited the Nike Factory Store or Sayki Men’s Fashion between 4 and 9 p.m. that day may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease, officials said.
People who visited those stores during that time should monitor themselves for signs of symptoms of measles through April 21, the Orange County Health Department said. Anyone who becomes ill is urged to contact a health care provider or emergency department before seeking care.
Anyone who visited Woodbury Common outside of that time frame is not at risk from this particular exposure, the county said.
The Woodbury Common case was revealed amid a regional outbreak that has seen the measles reported in Westchester, Rockland, and Orange counties, and in Brooklyn, primarily in Orthodox Jewish communities.
