Camille Cosby spoke out for the first time since her husband and comedian Bill Cosby was found guilty of sexual assault last week, blasting the verdict as “mob justice.”

”Camille Cosby, who’s been married to “The Cosby Show” star since 1964, has stood by her husband amid accusations that he drugged and sexually assaulted dozens of women over the past few decades. After Bill Cosby’s first sexual assault trial ended in a hung jury last year, Camille Cosby released a
In her Thursday statement, Camille Cosby attacked the media, the jury and Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele.
“Once again, an innocent person has been found guilty based on an unthinking, unquestioning, unconstitutional frenzy propagated by the media and allowed to play out in a supposed court of law,” her statement reads. “This is mob justice, not real justice.”
Bill Cosby, 80, was found guilty on three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University basketball coach Andrea Constand in 2004. The comedian was convicted by a jury of seven men and five women in a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, courthouse.
Camille Cosby also suggested Bill Cosby’s accusers are lying, asking: “Since when are all accusers truthful?”
She also alluded to racial injustices by pointing to historical moments when white women lied about black men committing crimes, including the death of Emmett Till in 1955 and the wrongful imprisonment of Darryl Hunt in 1994.
“How much longer will we, the majority of the people, tolerate judicial, executive, legislative, media and corporate abuses of power?” Camille Cosby wrote. “We, the majority of the people, must make America what it has declared itself to be … a democracy … not to be destroyed by vicious, lying, self-absorbed paradigms of evilness.”
Bill Cosby’s defense team has often fallen back on charges of racism to undermine the comedian’s accusers. A day after the guilty verdict, Bill Cosby’s publicist called his accusers liars and referenced Till as an example.
Although a sentencing date for Bill Cosby has not been set, each of the three counts carries a sentence of five to 10 years.
