Iggy Azalea may have survived the summer at Island Records, but the autumn is another story.

At the same same time, the artist behind Billboard Hot 100 hits like “Black Widow” and “Fancy” also there wouldn’t be any new music from her in 2018, promising to return in that capacity sometime early next year.

Now quite a few years since achieving tremendous success at Def Jam Records with her debut album The New Classic, Azalea’s newfound independence from the Universal Music Group family of labels comes after a prolonged series of efforts to reinvigorate her career, one marred by controversy and false starts. Following a lateral move to the less rap-centric Island imprint earlier this year, she released a single with Migos’ own Quavo called “Savior,” which failed to chart, and another one nearly 6 months later with Tyga entitled “Kream.” Taken from her Survive The Summer EP, that latter track managed to chart for a single week on the Hot 100 before disappearing from the ranking promptly thereafter.
